With this weather I feel more into stews than salads. But following the body biological calendar I have to go for a salad. And it is a very, very easy one. And healthy too.

You can use any pasta but Orzo has something special.

I used the ingredients I had handy at home. You can play around with you favourite ones. Anchovies, prawns, mangoes…

And the music. And “old” song from my teenage years. Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm by Crash Test Dummies.

Carlos Hernandez is a Spanish photographer. By coincidence, I came across  his pictures about La Matanza (The Pig Slaughter). And they are excellent.

They brought me back to my childhood, when La Matanza was a big celebration at every home in rural Spain.

Chocolate and Orange Confit Cake +Loudon Wainwright

Today we have a very easy cake. In 30 minutes is ready to be refrigerated, in a few hours ready to go with a cup of coffee. It is not the healthier cake, share it or your heart might complain.

The Cottage Cheese gives a more rustic texture but if you prefer a smooth finish use Mascarpone instead.

I love the Orange Confit. Make a bigger quantity and use it in cakes or dip them in melted dark chocolate and let them dry.

Award, Food, Versatile Blogger Award

This morning I discovered I have been nominated for another award. I am not very good lately replying to the Awards, so I decided  to be brave and responsible and thank the kind bloggers that nominated me.

I have been nominated for The Blog on Fire Award by Manderley Cooks. She is a very talented baker, loads to learn from her… Thank you Amanda for the nomination.

Sam from What Will I Cook Today? nominated me for The Versatile Blogger Award. Thank you for the nomination! In her blog you will find not only delicious recipes, also brilliant photography of the dishes.

I am really impressed with the Awards I am receiving lately. Thank you so much. And I have to apologise for my delay in replying, I am starting to see how valuable is time.

I got another nomination for The Versatile Blogger Award by Mon Food Blog. Thanks! A very interesting blog, an attractive design and full of great Italian recipes.

As I mixed three Awards in one post rules won’t be very orthodox.

A couple of facts:

  • When I was a teenager I used to follow bullfighting. Now, I believe Spain will be consider a land of barbarians until this savage practice disappears.
  • I am going to travel Northern India in November with two good friends. Looking forward for the food!

My nominations are going to…

  • Our Kitchen Inventions for a Blog on Fire Award.
  • Expat Chef for a Versatile Blogger Award.
  • MW Kitchen for a Blog on Fire Award.
  • Chica Andaluza for a Versatile Blogger Award.
  • Oh my Omiyage for a Versatile Blogger Award.
  • Girl in a Food Frenzy for a Versatile Blogger Award.

My addiction to Porcini (Boletus Edulis) is more than obvious. I can’t get tired of its peculiar flavour.

A quick recipe, no more than 30 minutes, with a excellent result. Enjoy it!

Seafood Paella with Fregola Sarda + Pulp

It seems that I completely abandoned my blog. But it has been in my mind every day. The last few weeks had been very busy between painting in the house and family and friends visits. I was cooking, but mainly dishes already in the blog or basic salads to feed big numbers…

Visitors will be around for a good while and the second round of painting is due to start next week. I won’t be very regular posting in the next few weeks but I will try to be better.

Today, a different Paella. Simple but full of flavour. I don’t like to add too many ingredients, quality Vs. quantity. And the Fregola, what a discovery! It retains better the flavours than the rice and has a lovely texture. If you try it you will repeat.

And the music, Common People by Pulp. I was lucky to see them last year and they are brilliant in concert.

Food, Versatile Blogger Award, Video

I have been nominated for a Illuminating Blogger Award by REMCooks. It is an honour coming from a highly talented chef. You will find very interesting recipes (loads of them) in his blog. It caught my eye the Shrimp in Chipotle Sauce, something I must try very soon.

About the random thing, a documentary I watched recently called Anima. Certainly illuminating and highly recommended:

ANIMA (2011) from Dominoes Falling Productions on Vimeo.

Here are my nominations. Good food, photos and great bloggers:

  • The Om Blog.
  • Kung Food.
  • Fig & Fork.
  • Home Schooled Baking.
  • Hip Foodie Mom.

I hope you enjoy them as I do.

*The Illuminating Blogger Award was created by Food Stories and is an award that anyone can bestow on their fellow bloggers for illuminating, informative blog content. The Rules for this award are:

  • The Nominee should thank the person that nominated them by posting & including a link to their blog.
  • The Nominee should include a courtesy link back to the official award site (http://foodstoriesblog.com/illuminating-blogger-award/) in their blog post.
  • Share one random thing about yourself in your blog post.
  • Select at least five other bloggers that you enjoy reading their illuminating, informative posts and nominate them for the award. Many people indicate that they wish they could nominate more so please feel free to nominate all your favorites.
